FSL-005 was only the 5th generation of cars to come out of UWAM's humble workshop but astounded the competition. 

Scoring a previously unheard of 952.8/1000 potential points at the 2005 FSAE-Australasia competition UWAM placed 1st in Engineering Design, Endurance, Presentation and Autocross events. The team proudly took home its first ever 1st place overall FSAE-A trophy. The team proudly achieved a strong 4th place in the Engineering design in FSAE Michigan 2006.

Engine:Honda CBR600 F4i, semi-stressed engine, custom fuel injection and exhaust, variable intake manifold, dry sump.
Drivetrain:Custom 4-speed gear box. Chain RWD with Torsen LSD.
ChassisFull one-piece carbon fibre monocoque.
Suspension: Kinetic H2 suspension system, belleville springs, torsion bars and coilovers. Double unequal length wishbones, non-parallell axes with toe control in rear. Custom dampers.
Electronics:AVR microcontroller used to control plenum position. Semi-automatic gearshift and digital driver display. Motec controller with data acquisition and traction control system.
Brakes:    Floating cast iron disc brakes with fixed Brembo dual piston calipers.
Wheels:     Custom cast aluminium rims, single nut fastening.
